Our Story


        It all began in 1998 when a trip to Costa Rica turned into a 6 month adventure filled stay. I was running my new fledgling internet business and my father was running his coffee commodity business. Over the next 4 years I travelled through Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia and Africa. I went on to build a software team in Vietnam, then an office in Indonesia, until I finally realized my calling. I decided to leave a large part of my successful technology business and start a coffee roasting plant in Los Angeles. All the people, cultures, foods, and places I had experienced had me hooked, and by 2002 I had returned home and started Bradford Coffee. My goal was to bring higher quality coffees to food service operators.  


       For years I had incubated a vision to source the greatest coffees in the world and deliver them freshly roasted to our customers. Now the vision is a reality;  I introduce you to my personal passion Café d'Epoca.  It's the culmination of a life long journey filled with stories of adventure, sacrifice (sometimes danger), relationships, and lots of passion.  Café d'Epoca, is truly my personal masterpiece that has taken over 10 years to come to fruition.  I've personally traveled through a majority of all of the world's core gourmet coffee growing regions, building key relationships, and bringing forth some of the best coffees the world has to offer.

Mission

We're excited to bring personalization to gourmet coffee.  With the vast amount of great origin coffees and brewing methods available, it may sometimes feel a little daunting to pick and choose.  Some people may like dark roast, bold roasted coffees and others might love highly citric and bright coffees.  Our goal is to help our customers find what their taste profile is and take them on an exciting journey of coffees that suit their tastes best.  All the while, we strive to help our farmers develop best practices in farming and processing so they can obtain the highest prices for their crop without the need for charity.
